For starters: pizza poppers
Ingredients:
Pepperoni
Mozzarella Cubes
Eggs
Breadcrumbs
Seasoning (oregano, salt, pepper and paprika are a yay from us, but feel free to experiment!)
How to make it:
Step 1: Cut the mozzarella cube into smaller cubes, depending on how large you’d like your poppers to be.
Step 2: Stack up the smaller cube with a pepperoni slice on the toothpick.
Step 3: Mix a part of the seasonings with the breadcrumbs.
Step 4: Crack the egg in a bowl and mix it using a fork, and add in the remaining seasonings to it and give it a good mix.
Step 5: Dip the popper into the egg mixture, then the breadcrumbs.
Step 6: Deep fry over medium to high heat, and serve with some pizza sauce.
Make lots of these tasty little poppers to keep your guests occupied until the real deal starts out!
Another tiny treat: cheese stuffed potato and chicken nuggets
Ingredients:
Ground Chicken
Mashed Potatoes
Seasoning (the usual)
Mozzarella cubes
Breadcrumbs
Flour
Egg
How to make it:
Step 1: Season the ground chicken or mashed potatoes in a bowl, and scoop a little bit of it out.
Step 2: Press into the chunk a small piece of mozzarella cheese.
Step 3: Do the usual dipping into seasoned eggs, breadcrumbs and flour, and deep fry the nuggets until they turn into a nice golden colour.
Your nuggets are ready!
The real-deal main course: fancy-schmancy mac ‘n cheese
Ingredients:
Elbow Macaroni
Cheese (As many varieties as you could grab, but even plain mozzarella would work just fine!)
Whole Milk
Seasoning ( Oregano, Paprika, Salt, Pepper)
All Purpose Flour
Breadcrumbs (optional)
How to make it:
Step 1: Cook the pasta in boiling water until it’s al-dente.
Step 2: In another pot, melt the butter and add the flour. Whisk for a couple of minutes, until the flour turns golden brown.
Step 3: Add the milk and seasoning to the sauce and cook it for around 10 minutes or until it thickens whilst whisking it frequently. That’s your sauce!
Step 4: Add in your cheese(s) to the sauce along with your boiled macaroni and give it a good mix.
Step 5: Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over it and grate some cheese on top and pop it into the oven for 5-10 minutes.
You’re fancy-schmancy Mac ‘n cheese is ready! Top it off with some thyme and oregano and your dish is all — chef’s kiss.
And the full stop to your cravings, dessert: Oreo ice-cream poppers
Ingredients:
Oreos
Heavy Cream
Sweetened Condensed Milk
Vanilla Extract (Optional)
How to make it:
Step 1: Separate the cream from the Oreo cookies and set them aside.
Step 2: Throw the Oreo cookies into a zip-lock bag and beat them into a rough crumb.
Step 3: Whisk the heavy cream, condensed milk, vanilla extract, cream from the Oreo cookies, and the Oreo crumbs into a fluffy mixture.
Step 4: Pour the mixture into your ice-cream molds, and store it in the freezer for a couple of hours.
With no fancy cooking techniques or anything, your Oreo ice-cream poppers are ready.
